| To determine the desirability based on the qualitative and quantitative traits of 81 hybrids of yellow pepper along with 4 commercial hybrids as controls were evaluated in a randomized complete block design with 3 replications. Based on correlation coefficients, it may be concluded that the number of fruits, plant height, and fruit weight were main fruit yield contributing traits which should be considered during selection for fruit yield. According to the ASIIG index, six and 31 hybrids were identified as the best hybrids in this research in the completely ideal and ideal quarters, respectively. Based on GT biplot results, 85 hybrids divided the biplot into eight sectors with sex sectors included hybrids and studied trait points and hybrids 382, 130, 352, 153, 38, 376, 298, 175, 358, 197, 101, 380, 66, and 99 in terms of fruit yield, fruit number, fruit weight, final fruit set, plant height, and stalk diameter traits were more desirable than other hybrids. All the hybrids of this section, except the hybrid 99, were placed in the completely ideal and ideal quarter based on the ASIIG index. Cluster analysis by Ward's method placed 85 hybrids into four groups based on 17 investigated traits. This study demonstrates that GT biplot and ASIIG index can be effectively used to identify superior pepper hybrids for simultaneously improving several traits. | ||
