Another interesting translation is provided by mr. mohammad arab mazar of R. Gopal's article on "The Recovery of the Ailing Corporations: The Indian Experience". Ailing corporations are those firms that have failed ot reach their objectives and are not capable of attaining them under thier present structure and policies. Symptoms are low return on investment, inability to redeem .debts, inability to generate funds from internal resources, etc In India, as a result ot economic liberalization and privatisstion (partly enforced by the World Bank, Japanese, and Korean firms) many publicly owned firms that are available for sale connot find qualified buyers and therefore, are subjected to financial reorganization and bankruptcy. The author presents internal and external Factors thst have contributed to the financial problems of corporations. Although there is no panaces for all ailing corporations, a case by case study of coporate resources and limitations , including its markets, organizational structure, the size and quality of its manpower, and its financial resources; ~an shed light on a proper course of recovery. The author has also. offered techniques for preventing corporate failure and suggested strategies for recovery. | ||
