| چکیده | ||
| Objective: The launch of The Journal of Complex Adaptive Systems (JCAS) addresses the limitations of reductionist paradigms in explaining and managing pressing global challenges. This editorial positions JCAS as an essential interdisciplinary platform, necessitated by the non-linear, emergent, and adaptive nature of phenomena ranging from climate change to economic instability. The journal's primary objective is to synthesize fragmented research across disciplines to foster a coherent science of complexity, moving beyond prediction towards building resilience and adaptability. Methods: This editorial examines the epistemological foundations of complex adaptive systems theory, contrasting it with reductionist approaches that have dominated Western science for centuries. The analysis synthesizes insights from complexity science, contemporary research on global systemic risks, and established frameworks for understanding emergence and adaptation. Results: The analysis reveals that reductionist methodologies are inadequate for addressing challenges characterized by non-linearity, emergence, and adaptation. Additionally, the fragmentation of CAS research across disciplines has prevented knowledge synthesis, while the accelerating speed of change in financial markets, biological systems, and climate patterns demonstrates the urgency of developing new theoretical frameworks. Conclusion: The establishment of JCAS enables the development of new approaches based on network theory, agent-based modeling, and non-equilibrium thermodynamics, shifting focus from prediction to resilience. This establishes complexity science as the defining intellectual pursuit of the 21st century. | ||
