| چکیده | ||
| ظهور روشنگری در غرب با ارزش بخشیدن به عقل ابزاریِ انسان در شناخت پدیده‌های پیرامون خود، سلطة انسان بر جهان اطرافش را توجیه کرد و به ایجاد ساختارهای اجتماعی مدرن در جامعه غربی انجامید. از میان منتقدان مدرنیته، میشل فوکو با پیگیری چگونگی شکل‌گیری سوژه در تاریخ جامعه غرب به تبارشناسی روابط قدرت و تغییر شکل در روش‌های اِعمال قدرت می‌پردازد. یورگن هابرماس نیز با انتقاد از عقل ابزاری حاصل از مدرنیته راه رهایی از شیوﻩهای اِعمال قدرت نوین را در تقویت روابط میان سوژﻩهای انسانی جستجو می‌کند. بدین‌سان، هاوارد بارکر در نمایشنامة دژ جامعه‌ای را به تصویر می‌کشد که در ابتدا براساس روابط بین‌فردی و به صورت اشتراکی اداره ﻣﻲشده، سپس با بازگشت جنگجویی صلیبی و متعصب که مهندسی عقل-گرا نیز همراهیﺍش می‌کند به جامعهﺍی پلیسی تبدیل می‌شود که در آن شهروندان تحت نظارت دائم قرار می‌گیرند. نماد این سلطة انضباطی، ساختن دژی هراسناک است. بنابراین، پژوهش حاضر، با استفاده از دیدگاه فوکو و هابرماس درباره لزوم همراهی زیست‌جهان و نظام در جامعه، به واکاوی جامعه‌شناختی این نمایشنامه ﻣﻲپردازد. | ||
