Force Distribution and Center of Pressure Variation in Female with and without Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome

Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is one of the most common knee injuries among the youth. With regard to selecting different strategies during pain, the aim of present study was to answer this answer that how the unilateral patellofemoral pain affects the force distribution between the feet and center of pressure center sway. For this purpose, 12 women with unilateral PFPS and 12 women with no pain in their lower extremity participated in this study. Parameters such as SDAP, SDML mean sway velocity, COP path length, sway limits, length of minor axis, length of major axis, force and symmetry index (SI) were evaluated. The findings demonstrated that PFPS affected force symmetry distribution on both feet during quiet stance in those subjects with PFPS and consequently the most effect in postural sway of these participants were observed in medial-lateral direction (19.12±21.64). In COP Parameters, only COP path length indicated no significant difference between the two groups (P=0.4). An increase in the imposed force on the healthy foot in participants with unilateral PFPS for a long time can cause uncompensated sever injuries to their healthy foot. Therefore, in addition to reinforcement plans of mechanisms involved in balance, special attention should be paid to healthy foot in those with unilateral PFPS in rehabilitation programs.

سندروم درد پاتلوفمورال یکی از متداول‌ترین آسیب‌های زانو در سنین جوانی است. با توجه به انتخاب راهبرد‌های مختلف توسط افراد هنگام بروز درد، هدف از این مطالعه دستیابی به پاسخ این پرسش است که وجود درد یکطرفۀ پاتلوفمورال توزیع نیروی بین دو پا و نوسانات مرکز فشار را چگونه تحت تأثیر قرار می‌دهد؟ برای این منظور دوازده زن مبتلا به درد یکطرفۀ پاتلوفمورال و دوازده زن بدون سابقۀ هیچ‌گونه درد در اندام تحتانی، همگن‌شده‌ با گروه مبتلا در این تحقیق شرکت کردند. شاخص‌های انحراف استاندارد نوسانات قدامی خلفی (SDAP)، انحراف استاندارد نوسانات داخلی خارجی (SDML)، میانگین سرعت نوسانات، طول مسیر جابه‌جایی مرکز فشار، محدودۀ نوسانات، طول محور مینور، طول محور ماژور، نیرو و شاخص تقارن (SI) ارزیابی شد. نتایج مطالعۀ حاضر نشان داد که سندروم درد پاتلوفمورال بر توزیع متقارن نیرو بر روی دو پا در حالت ایستادۀ ساکن در افراد مبتلا تأثیر گذاشت و متعاقب آن بیشترین تأثیر در نوساناتِ پاسچرالِ این افراد در جهت داخلی - خارجی (64/21±12/19) دیده شد. از کلیۀ شاخص‌های مورد بررسی تنها طول مسیر جابه‌جایی مرکز فشار در دو گروه تفاوت معناداری را نشان نداد (4/0P=). افزایش نیروی متحمل‌شده‌ بر روی پای سالم در افراد مبتلا به درد یکطرفۀ زانو در درازمدت می‌تواند صدمات جبران‌ناپذیری را به پای سالمِ این افراد وارد کند، بنابراین در برنامه‌های توانبخشی علاوه‌بر ارائۀ راهکارهای تقویتی سازوکار‌های درگیر در تعادل، باید به‌صورت ویژه پای سالم در افراد مبتلا به درد یکطرفۀ پاتلوفمورال را در نظر داشت.
