An overview of Toxocaracati infection in stray cats in the metropolitan region of Tehran, Iran, and a comparison of two diagnostic methods | ||

| Toxocaracati is one of the most important and widespread of the helminth zoonosis. In the present study, helminthosis due to Toxocaracati in 55 stray cats in Tehran was studied by necropsy. In addition, two different diagnostic methods, including serological and coprological tests, for infection with this parasite were compared. The dot-ELISA assay used Toxocaracati crude antigens to evaluate the presence of serum antibodies against the mature nematode. The coprological sedimentation method was carried out to assess the output of eggs. In autopsied cats, 52.7% were infected with T. cati. Seropositive cases were detected in 53.8% of examined cats, whereas the prevalence in feces was 40%. The sensitivity and specificity for dot-ELISA method was 65.5% and 60.9% respectively. In sedimentation method the sensitivity was 69%, and the specificity was 92.3%. The positive and negative predictive values for dot-ELISA and sedimentation were 67.9%, 58.3% and 90.9%, 72.2% respectively. These results suggest that coprological methods for diagnostic and control programs of toxocariosis in cats are the optimal investigations. | ||

| توکسوکارا کاتی یکی از آلودگی های کرمی مشترک بین انسان و حیوان است که از اهمیت و پراکنش زیادی برخوردار می باشد. در مطالعه حاضر آلودگی به این انگل در 55 قلاده گربه ولگرد اطراف تهران بعد از کالبدگشایی بررسی گردید، علاوه بر این دو روش مختلف آزمون سرمی و آزمایش مدفوع برای تشخیص آلودگی با توکسوکارا کاتی در گربه های تحت بررسی مقایسه شد. روش الایزا نقطه ای توسط پادگن خام توکسوکارا کاتی جهت ارزیابی پادتن ضد کرم بالغ در سرم و آزمون رسوبی مدفوع با هدف جست و جوی تخم در مدفوع مورد استفاده قرار گرفت. نتایج کالبدگشایی نشان داد که 7/ 52% از گربه های تحت آزمایش به توکسوکارا کاتی آلوده اند. میزان موارد مثبت روش های سرمی و مدفوعی در گربه های تحت آزمایش به ترتیب 8/ 53% و 40% بود. حساسیت و ویژگی دو روش الایزا نقطه ای و آزمایش رسوبی مدفوع به ترتیب 5/ 65%، 9/ 60، و 69%، 3/ 92% و ارزش پیشگویی مثبت و منفی برای الایزا نقطه ای 9/ 67% و 3/ 58% و در استفاده از روش رسوبی 9/ 90% و 2/ 72% بود. نتایج به دست آمده در این بررسی استفاده از آزمایش مدفوع را در تشخیص و برنامه های کنترلی توکسوکاریوزیس گربه ها رضایت بخش می داند. | ||
