Background: This research explores the breakdown of chlorpyrifos in the presence of Ag⁺ ions across a range of temperatures. The Arrhenius model was applied to determine activation energy values and to estimate chlorpyrifos concentrations under varying thermal conditions. Objectives: The aim of this work was to examine the degradation behavior of chlorpyrifos when combined with Ag⁺ ions at a 1:1 molar ratio, subjected to different temperature environments. Methods: Chlorpyrifos was chosen as a representative compound to design experimental procedures that reveal its kinetic profile and degradation pathways over time intervals of 0–216 minutes at multiple temperatures. The Arrhenius equation was further used to calculate activation energies, reaction rate constants, and concentration changes. Results: The decomposition of chlorpyrifos followed first-order reaction kinetics, with elevated temperatures producing a pronounced increase in the rate of degradation, consistent with Arrhenius predictions. Conclusions: Rate constants were determined to be within the range of 0.006–0.025 L mol⁻¹ min⁻¹, while half-life values varied from 27.7 to 138.6 minutes, confirming the significant influence of temperature on the degradation process of chlorpyrifos in the presence of Ag⁺ ions. | ||
